The two view metrics
TikTok shows you one view-count number. The ranker actually reads several:
- View counter — incremented at 1 second of playback. This is the visible number on your video.
- Completion rate — what percentage of viewers played the video to the end. Read by the ranker as the strongest single quality signal.
- Watch-through rate — average percentage of video duration watched per view. Read alongside completion as the second-strongest quality signal.
- Re-watch rate — what percentage of viewers played the video more than once. The re-watch signal is what unlocks the highest distribution tiers; viral videos almost always show >15% re-watch.
