Why UK TikTok is its own cohort
TikTok's FYP segments distribution by cultural-cohort signals in addition to language and geo. The UK cohort is large enough — and culturally distinct enough — that the ranker treats it as a quasi-independent distribution layer. Content that wins the UK cohort doesn't automatically distribute to US TikTok, and vice versa. For UK creators whose content is built for British cultural reference (regional accents, British food culture, UK reality-TV references, UK music), reaching the UK cohort is what monetization depends on; reaching US TikTok doesn't help.
